Langdyke Countryside Trust events 2008

The Trust runs a number of walks, talks and work parties throughout the year.

Forthcoming events:

Wednesday 23 January 2008 - indoor meeting and illustrated talk on the Great Fen project, one of the largest landscape restoration projects in Europe - and it’s on our doorstep. Speaker to be confirmed.

Saturday 26 January - village conservation day for Etton and Helpston. Various work parties around the villages, meet at Botolph's Barn at 1000 or 1330.

Sunday 24 February - work party at Swaddywell pit, meet at the pit at 2pm.

Tuesday 11 March - indoor meeting and talk, looking at garden ponds and what to do to encourage wildlife in your garden and in the villages

Thursday 10 April - annual newt, frog and toad count at Swaddywell, meet at 8pm at the pit.

Wednesday 14 May -nightingales, cuckoos, and all the wonders of the Hanglands, a walk around Castor Hanglands on an early summer's evening, meet at Helpston Post Office at 7.30pm.

Tuesday 10 June - owls and waders walk on the Nene Washes, meet at the post office at 1830pm.

Directions

Swaddywell Pit - turn right off the Marholm to Ufford Road after the farm shop and into the Stamford Stone operation. The reserve is on your right through the gates

Tarmac operations at Maxey quarry - turn left off the main road going into Maxey from the A16 round about just after the Etton turn.

Botolph's Barn - next to the Exeter Arms in Church Lane, Helpston.
